The All-New Stainless-Steel Hinge with Built-In Damper

August 6, 2024 – Atlanta, Ga. Known in the U.S. for its Stainless-Steel Hardware, Sugatsune America launches an All-New soft-closing, 304-grade stainless steel European cup hinge at the 2024 International Woodworker’s Fair. As people expand their home’s living spaces and more hospitality properties take advantage of outdoor solutions for entertainment, demand for stainless-steel hinges are on the rise. Even more so is the increase in the desire to have soft-closing cabinets that were once found only in high-end interior kitchens.

“For decades, our 304B European cup hinge has been one of our top sellers and sales continue to increase,” says Steve Hirasawa, Executive Vice President. “However, many of our customers have made strong requests for a built-in damper which we are proud to announce the introduction of our new 180SUS which provides corrosion resistance like our 304B but with a soft-closing feature that has become popular in today’s kitchens and bathrooms.”

In addition to being corrosion resistant, the 180SUS is 3-way adjustable and uses a mounting plate designed to work on standard 32mm cabinet systems. Better yet, this hinge has been tested to 30,000 cycles and has passed 72-hour JIS Z2371 / ISO9227 salt spray testing. “As many of our boat builders and other Marine clients have been looking forward to using this product,” Steve adds, “we are in the middle of a 200-hour ISO9227 salt spray test which we anticipate a favorable result.”
